Personality:
Robyn is an adventure-loving girl who inspires to be a hunter like her father. Instead of doing chores around the house, she practices shooting arrows and pretends to hunt wolves. She used to go on adventures with her father before they moved to their new home, where she's expected to instead act like a normal child and stay home.
Robyn tends to do things her way, regardless of what anyone else thinks. There's several instances where she outright disobeys the authority figures in her life, even when said authority figure is feared for the harsh punishments he inflicts on his own people who speak out against him. Despite her father's insistence on Robyn not going into the woods where the wolves are, she follows him there anyway. And when she's commanded to go work in the scullery, she escapes back into the woods to find her lost bird, Merlyn.
Robyn tends to be very clever, both because of her training as a hunter and also she's very crafty on her own. When the guards try to escort her back to town after a wolf attack, she frees the farmer's sheep locked in a cage to create a distraction to escape. As a wolf, she's able to dodge arrows and gunfire, and climb on top of rooftops and even managed to stealth her way into the Lord Protector's chambers - an action that would've easily killed her if she was less skilled.
She's also a very brave child. almost recklessly so. Despite her father's warnings about the dangers of wolves in the forest, she goes anyway to hunt them. She has a lot of confidence in her hunting skills, so much so that all she wants to do is prove to her father that she can be a good hunter. When she's confronted with a wolf, instead of running away from it, she follows it right to their den. She's also brave enough that she pleads with the Lord Protector, an action that almost gets her put in the stocks. She even stands up to her father when he's about to shoot Mebh's mother, despite how furious her father is with her for doing so.
Robyn has a complicated relationship with her father. She loves him, and she loves the adventures they used to go on. But that all changes when they move to the town they currently live in, and now her father is very overprotective of Robyn, to the point where she feels suffocated and often feels the need to disobey him to live her own life. Her relationship becomes even more strained when Robyn is turned into a Wolfwalker, because her father hunts wolves. Her nearly kills her several times, and refuses to listen to her when she tries to explain Wolfwalkers to him, dismissing them as fairy tales. This makes it so that Robyn feels that she can't trust her father, that he'll end up hating or fearing what she's become. It's when her father is turned into a Wolfwalker himself that the father and daughter truly understand each other.
Robyn is very affectionate towards Mebh, a Wolfwalker who accidentally turns Robyn into another Wolfwalker. At first she's a little standoffish towards the wild girl, and maybe even a little afraid once Mebh pretends to sic her wolves on her to drive her out of their den. But they quickly become friends, and Robyn finds herself wanting to protect Mebh. This feeling to protect her becomes even stronger once Robyn finds Mebh's captured mother, who asks Robyn to take Mebh and leave the woods. Robyn goes about protecting Mebh the wrong way, from nearly cutting off contact with her and even getting some of the town's children to take Mebh prisoner when Mebh finds out her mother is captured. She even ends up acting like her father, betraying Mebh's trust in order to protect her from harm. In this case, it's to keep Mebh from saving her mother, because that means she'll get captured herself. In the end, the two make up after Robyn frees Mebh's mother.
Despite her desire to hunt wolves in the beginning, once she becomes a Wolfwalker, she discovers the joys of being a wolf. As a human girl, she's confined to doing just housework and working in the scullery, instead of being herself and going on adventures like she used to do. As a wolf, she's free to run and play in the woods, and discover the world through new eyes as a wolf. She quickly learns to accept her new wolf form, though she's a little afraid of what will happen to her due to the town's hatred of wolves. In the end though, she sides with the wolves, leading them in battle against the Lord Protector's soldiers and defending what she considers her new home and new family.
